Bi Pod advice

Hello!

Looking for recommendations on what Bipod to put on my Sako TRG-22. I'm currently just using a bipod that clips onto the sling swivel, I think its a Harris but don't quote me on that.
The rifle is for target shooting so doesn't have to be lightweight or quick release (not that a lightweight bipod would make a difference, the thing weighs a ton compared to my deer rifle haha).

The rifle has a heavy moderator and with the bipod sitting as far back as it does, it feels front heavy when taking a shot.

From looking online it seems there was a Sako bipod that clips into the slot below the barrel which would let the bipod sit further forward. Problem is trying to find a Sako bipod is near impossible!

I found an aftermarket adapter for sale (link below), was just wondering if anyone has any experience with these and if it's smarter to buy an adapter with a bipod over searching for a Sako one?

I run a Fortmeier on my AI. Solid bit of kit.

However I managed to pick up a Tier One f class bipod which I stupidly sold. For range use (informal target shooting is the phrase I think) it was first class

Just had a look and yeah you're right, those Fortmeier bipods do look to be a good job!
Think I'll still need to bite the bullet and buy one of those adapters in the link to get it to fit the Sako.

I have a Versa pod adaptor that attaches to the front swivel on my AI stock. The spigot then goes into a Parker Hale Bipod.
I use a Parker Hale Bipod with Spigot that goes into the female socket in the front of my AI. I am not familiar with your chassis system so a picture minus bipod of underside would be helpful.
D

I'm not at home at the minute so can't take a picture but attached is a stock photo from the internet.
It's an older rifle so a basic chassis compared to what is out there nowadays.

This is the official bipod that I believe came with the Sako TRG-22, it clicks into the slot below the barrel on that chassis.
Unfortunately one didn't come with mine haha.

Thinking of trying to get the Versa adaptor that is in the link from my first post and then going for the likes of a bipod that uses the adaptor. All this just to get a bipod that sits further forward .

It’s an anschutz/UIT rail on the bottom. I have to say, they are a class rifle, I use mine for target shooting, but it ended up in a chassis.

Check ant supplies for adapters to move to pic rail or weaver or Arca

I use that versa pod mount with the forteimer bipod. I also bought the adapters to fit the atlas feet.

I have so much to learn when it comes to rifles! 😂
I did wonder why there was that rail on the bottom, when there was the slot below the barrel too. So you can have best of both worlds lol. However I guess picatinny rails have taken over everything nowadays.

Is the versa pod mount you use for the bipod the same idea as the one I posted at the start of the thread? It's like £60, from proptics.eu. Think I might get it and then go on the hunt for a good bipod.
From the advice of everyone here its a toss up between all that is mentioned lol.
As I'm pretty new to target rifle, I don't want to spend too much at this stage.

Thanks everyone for all the recommendations!

Yes its the same one.
It works with the forteimer bipods and the versa pod bipods and some others.
Its a very good system .

I’ve a TRG22 and a 42.. I bought the KRG spigot mounts for mine with a picatiny rail. Used with the robust 50 cal Acu-tac bipod, but with quick release mount, I’ve found my ideal setup..

No pictures with the bipod fitted unfortunately😢

They look good, I'm assuming those adaptors connect to the rifle the same way as the one I just bought. Slots into the space under the barrel? Hopefully it's an easy install.
