Drying coats

Do they work? Do they need washing every time? Just looking for something to put on her on drive home so she bit cleaner by time we get back.

Literally just tried first towelling one on Rua (short for ruination) for the very last first time - talk about wrestling a bag of ferrets! Lady FB and I ended up in tears of laughter at her/our struggles; she is so fine she can wriggle out the neck of it - my fault for ordering extra large of course.
Might be a rather steep learning curve…

I have one for my Lab, can't remember the brand. If she is really wet I towel her down before putting it on. Keeps her warm in the back of the pickup, finishes of the drying process and ensure she is clean and dry enough to satisfy she who must be obeyed!

I don't wash it every time out, just hang it out or over the rail in the garage.

Used the towelling type with my teckels and lab cross, they work really well. Pop it on before they go in the car and they're warm and dry by the time I get home. I just dry it out and shake off any loose muck, only wash them when they smell 😂

I think it's important to get one that will absorb the water off the dog's fur, cotton rather than fleece.

We used Equafleece for our spaniel they do various types but the jumper with the zip up the back was easy to put on and off, dries and warms the dog well and chuck it in the washer and once washed dry's quick.
Used them to keep him warm on his walks in his older arthritic days.

I have a Siccaro dog drying coat that I won in an online competition. Just as well as I wouldn't have bought one myself as they aren't cheap.
However, it's phenomenal at doing what it's supposed to do. I remember running a springer in a field trial and it was torrential rain all day. I put her in the Siccaro coat for the journey home and not only was she done dry and toasty warm by the time I got home, there was zero wet dog smell in the car (Honda crv at the time). Stays firmly in place and is a wonderful piece of kit.
I would recommend one to anyone.

Got dog drying "bags" but by the time I get home the dog is usually half way out of them.

We have thermatex for all of ours, great things and we must have 10 or 15. They just went tits up but there was talk of someone taking over.

There’s a company from NZ doing good costs as well

Good once over with a towel, then into a Ruff and Tumble drying coat to take the remaining moisture off.

24 hours later and still haven’t got Rua into the bag; now going for a lie-down after the latest wrestling bout which she won by a submission - mine!

PS
Rua really loves it - as a mat….

Our lab/BMhound has a ruff and tumble which goes on at lunchtime and when get in the car. She is just about 11 years old and still pretty happy to work most of the day.

I had big fright earlier in the season. Hard frost and top of tge moss frozen I was in waders, and she we were working the reeds. A couple of guns dropped some ducks, but their labs too precious to get there feet wet so mine just went in a found them. She got very cold and ended up in hypoglycaemic type fit. Scared the living daylights of me. I thought she was gone.

She now has Neoprene jacket as well, and she loves it. Keeps her warm even in the rain and snow or out on the foreshore. This combined with some crunch bars in my pocket as well as other snacks and she seems fine.

+1 for Rough & Tumble.
If using in the house they still need their legs doing but it definitely keeps them warm and dry and stops the majority of the muck getting everywhere.

Don’t get the drying mits for their legs they get soaked before you’re finished.
