Hik Alpex Pro

I put the Alpex 4k against the DNT Zulus 4k the other night in darkness in admittedly terrible conditions and the Alpex won with a better picture in both IR and non IR. (I'm not in any way saying the Zulus is a bad scope, it's more than capable but the Alpex deffo had the edge).

What concerns me about the Pro is the swapping to an F1.8 lens (same as Zulus) over the Alpex 4k's F1.2. Their advertising it as a "F0.9 equivalent" using algorithms etc, but in reality nothing really beats the light gathering capabilities of a low f-stop lens. We may end up seeing that the Alpex 4k beats out the Pro at night/low light.

Why does this matter, you may ask? Well, it probably doesn't - all these scopes will be capable in their own right, it'll be down to the slight picture and ergonomics differences/preferences of each user.
See what you’re saying. Would be mad of them to take a step back in performance though and call it the pro?

The Alpex pro has a really good day image from what I could see at the show.

That being said there was loads of hot stuff from all the different brands. I don't think any of them would be lemons.

It was also frankly embarrassing to hear the Nicpics sales rep explain to somebody looking at the scope that as an apology were reducing the price and throwing in a free IR. The customer then mentioned the hick micro and even the knock pics guy knew that they were up against it.

My supposition. On traditional glass right handed shooters use their right hand to adjust the windage turret. I suppose it was positioned on the right to be more natural to the majority of users. I expect that the side wheel parallax adjustment went on the left side as it was the free side. I’d argue that it is reasonably neutral left side vs right side in terms of usability.
I’m right handed & to adjust windage I reach over the top with my left hand while the right hand holds the pistol grip. It’s intuitive.

All of this is moot until they come onto the market proper. It’s no use slamming the Nocpix until its out there and compared properly against the benchmark Alpex 4K, likewise with the new pro.
Looking through these things in a hall with artificial lighting and limited distance only gives you a tiny insight into the scopes performance, granted the new features of the Alpex are a bonus but lets get them in a wood at last knockings or out on the Moors with the mist rolling in that will determine whether its worth upgrading.

True but in that hall that Nocpix was dross

I'm shooting at the moment with the original sightmark wraith so anything should be an improvement
but saying that I'm shooting the foxes and they don't know I've got old tech!
yes a LRF would make long shots easier instead of guessing hold over, but most of the foxes i shoot are between 70-140 yds so never to much holdover required when zeroed at 100yds
i was really impressed with the nocpix when it first got released into the press side of things but was this just good marketing ????

So was I and for me it was a different story hands on yesterday.
As I say unless there was something a miss with it that yesterday I’d not buy. I’m steering well clear of the brand

my mate has even got 2 now after buying a pulsar c50 first thats now on a rifle that hardly comes out of his cabinet

Your probably right but
1.many hand playing etc settings could be allover place.
2. If Bruce taught me one thing over years about NV is stop....play with focus play with ocular take the time to set contrast brightness to the conditions
So many times at try demo nites we would see folk loom thru something for less than 20 seconds and proclaim " its sh1te""

Learn your kit and take 5 mins to tweak it to find sweet spot for your own eyes

Pard have a new model coming also ...

Lots of options out there...

Your talking 4-6 weeks until any of the new models will be available anyway,.

At this moment in time, foxing and stalking, the Alpex 4K takes some beating,.

Expect some price drops too...
Saw the alpex 4k lrf for £630 yesterday at the show..I was a little overwhelmed by the choice. Couldn't get near optics warehouse stand.
