.243 non toxic ammo

I was using 105g Geco, have switched to 85g Winchester Copper Extreme Impact, which work very well in my Browning X-Bolt.

Federal power shock copper is what I use
I was using these to great effect but now they're like rocking horse s**t .Been advised to go to the next one up which is only a tad more expensive but still having probs getting them here in Sussex /Kent.If anyone knows where I'd be grateful .

Same here, I tried Winchester they worked as well, I have since bought Barnes heads to reload as I already reload my 308

Is that Hornady GMX ? £50 a box ?
Sorry for delayed response, 'out of office'. Yes 80gr GMX. Also use 130gr equivalent in 270. Both are more accurate than best factory lead I found for my rifles and never had an issue with them.

I currently shoot 100 grn lead through my .243 which is a Tikka T3

Now that the imminent ban is getting closer what do people recommend I switch to ?

Never used copper or know anybody that does so what are your recommendations and cost ?

Also any updates whether or not the .243 will still be banned from using lead as per the initial government response.
I went to copper nearly two years ago when the game dealer announced it was likely he’d only be accepting non-lead shot carcasses before too long. I tried a few alternatives but my Sako S20 .243 1:10” twist shoots Sako Powerhead Blade II 80gr TTSX super accurately.

They’re about £65 a box and the right side of deer legal in terms of muzzle energy. I’ve been shooting MJ, roe and fallow of both sexes successfully out to about 150m since and would certainly recommend them out to that distance. Shot fallow bucks haven’t run too far, and ultimately it comes down to shot placement as you know.

I would add that they don’t create the size of exit wound my previous Federal Power-shok 100gr lead rounds did, and consequently the blood trail isn’t so marked. I’d like to test their accuracy out to 200m+ and understand the limit of their effectiveness on larger deer species at these longer ranges.

Hope this is helpful.
