Wiltshire Shooting Centre New Management

Went down to use the range at Wiltshire Shooting Centre today, looks really good since changing ownership. The indoor ranges are well maintained. I used their 100m range for load testing. While I was there I noticed a new deer steel target rig among other things.

If you are near Devizes, its worth a look. Dead handy for working up and load testing.

We were looking at this today just due to weather and trying to load test, its now price per person isnt it instead of an Hour booking and couple of you?

Did they have large targets there to use, or did you have to take your own?

They using steel targets now, last time I went there was just a large foam style target but cannot remember if we took our own or if they were provided to stick up?

Its £40 an hour for the full bore range. I just called and spoke to Jo who deals with bookings. There is a massive wood butt stop that you can put any target on, I like to use my own but they will provide card targets.

The metal deer rig is a separate thing. You would have to ask about it, I didnt use it. They have 50m and 25m ranges to but I only use the full bore 100.

You are basically firing down a train tunnel, setup as a ballistic test facility. They provide Benchs to shoot from, various rests, bags and a spotting scope.

I've driven down there a couple of times to use for load development as it gives you a consistent, shot to shot, windless shooting conditions.

I was pleasantly surprised how well the shop was stocked, with plenty of bullets, powders etc.

I'll be booking another visit soon when my new rifle is finished and back from the proof house, for load development, once I ran an initial break etc on my usual grounds.

Now that it is £40 an hour it is the same price as at Jeremy Horton's range at Waddington Farm.
His range has a camera on the target to save having to use a spotter and seating at a bigger desk area.
Also under cover as the shooting bench is in a hut.

Wiltshire is also under cover lol - its indoors 😂

Another excellent indoor range in the south west is Online Gun Shop & Rifle Range Somerset
Don't know what the current range fees are for using the 100 yard fullbore range but they were £20 a hour 2 years ago. Absolutely first rate facilities for testing and zeroing with electronic target retrieval system
I used to be a member there. It’s a commercial operation, so not cheap. Depending who is on duty can seriously change your experience. 100 yards prone, is a great zeroing opportunity.

Your experience may be totally different from mine. I’d expect some of the staff have changed.
The shop hold many fewer lines than in the past and drop ships a lot.

trickie I can't comment on the shop other than to say that the one small cleaning item that I was looking for they didn't have.
The range staff were actually quite friendly and helpful when I visited. Yes it's a commercial operation so not exactly cheap but much cheaper than a couple of others that I could name.

Has been for a while now, Jason who was General manager before now owns the business including the ballistic testing side.

Very helpful shop and the 100 yard range facility is very handy for load testing and zeroing.
