I Posted my variation form for change of calibre on Monday 1st class, and received my certificate back yesterday (Friday) by 2nd class !!! Excellent service and communication from the team at Gloucestershire firearms dept. They did say that as this was my only deer rifle they would turn it around quickly but even so, a fantastic service from a very busy department..

That's impressive!
I only wish Leicestershire were in the same league.... I queried the FEO about a rimmie variation & was informed it would probably be 6-8months. It took 8+ months previously for a one for one, 12 - 13 months for acquaintances - this was post Covid & I'd hoped things had improved. A bit rich considering the dramatic rise in fees.

I know it must be very frustrating having to wait so long.. I have heard talk that other forces are insisting on applicants being mentored, even if they want a variation from .223 to .243

I must admit that Glos have vastly improved over the last few years. When I first moved to the area, I had a few 'discussions' with them over their policies and understanding of legislation and HO guidance. 6 days was my last variation for a 1 4 1 with change of calibre. Thinking about another for another rifle and a FAC air rifle.
