The out yesterday or today thread and...

Out over the weekend, have a farm where we’ve had to make a reduction in numbers so basically anything seen is to be taken
3 stags came out the forestry into a boggy area,I stalked into well under 100 yards where the 8 pointer was first to come out of a patch of gorse to be dropped with a high neck shot around 70 yards the 7 pointer ran a few yards and looked back to receive the same treatment
Thankfully the 3rd stag didn’t stop until he was out of sight
A soggy and wet extraction
Cracking job there mate 👍

After my speed awareness course I had a bit of fun with the 222 attempting to use up some odds and sods bullets.
Some are fantastic and some mediocre but on my usual dose of cfe223 at 26.5gn for 50gn bullets I got some working well and with good horse power. They should account for some fox's.
I struggled to get the moly coated ones to shoot well. I think they were sent to me by @Stalker62 . Where has he gone?

The following video shows shots taken at 188yds and 288yds and a squirrel at 180+ yards.https://youtu.be/B3rpbipLl00?feature=shared
The long shot was a loaded 222 round left! The target being just that white pebble in the chunk of concrete.IMG_20260311_153050155.webp
Trigger time is valuable and never a waste in my opinion. I've only shot 10rds.

Had a simply fantastic day yesterday
One of the lads wanted to zero his rifle on ours so instead of me doing the things i wanted to do up the woods - I had a lie in and watched F1 !
Once that was over i met up with 4 pals and we set off down South after a fallow or two

On route we stop at the truck cafe - beef / lamb dinners all round ! Its getting better !

Got to the estate and had a chat all things pheasant - wildlife - politics with the keeper and then got in the high seats
Had an early opportunity at a munty but had fallow in the woods beside me
Then bang ..... bang ... My mate has 2 munties in the bag

I sit and watch the world go by - put the merlin app on and relex - lovely

Then bang - my other pal sadly missed his munty

Then the rain starts and im starting to think i should have taken the first opportunity - then again bang and my pal shot the most beautiful fallow buck

Just at last knocking i see movement and again its a munty on some clear fell - get comfy - squeeze - all over and back to the larder

Lovely afternoon - lovely place - lovely people - Really what life is all about

Never shot a fallow, or a Chink, nor a Sika :norty:.. I have bagged Reds, Roe and Muntjac all in the same evening :norty:.

Sounds like you had a nice day @jall55. Nice to do something out of the normal routine now and again :)
