Any 6.5 PRC owners out there using hornaday ELD VT 100 grn ?

One on top of two

As per title anyone tried them in your PRC ?
I have doing a bit of load development with some as i fancied a sort of varmint load for it , i have a nice one for deer I'm working on at the min .
But I'm getting great results with the 100 grn VT and RS60 low SD & ES too 3500 fps

I use them in my 6.5x55 pushing them only at just under 3000 with very good results on everything I’ve shot with it (foxes through to big fallow)

Not that cartridge but shot a lot of deer with the bullet at lower velocity (Grendel pushing 2700)
Red and Sika Stags and hinds, Roe, Muntjac, foxes etc
Chest shots are neat and tidy with solid wound channel, very little in the way of exit.

Imagine the risk of a splash wound on shoulder hits as they are quite frangible
They are not as frangible as the 95gr VMax I also use

I’d be very, very reluctant to shoot deer with that, unless you enjoy green soup and bloody jelly.

I have tried very fast light loads from a PRC, and they certainly kill, but the mess is horrible.

If you were head/neck shooting only, marvellous. But there’s a really good chance of bursting the rumen even with chest shots that are well forward, and if you hit a shoulder, it just explodes.

Thats a 100% fox load for those shy ones 😉
My deer loads are barnes 127 LRX or berger classic hunter 135 grn at the min.

What are the loads for those?

Both are warmish loads .

Here is my data for both . No obvious pressure signs , sticky bolt ect ,low SD/ES

Give them a go
The barnes is pretty much on the money and is very close in FPS . They do seem to like being pushed hard even though this is not a hot -hot load

The bergers are a bit twitchy when pushed but i actually get nearer 3150 FPS
