BASC DSC & LANTRA

If people NEED to make money that way then fair play, it’s not in line with what I do as I am cull only, no need for good heads.
I take antlers off the heads however button/spiker/sorrel etc as I give them to stick/knife makers who ask for them.
Say that all the time, the local shoot members are often tapping me up for "antler stick tops"
Medal MJ antlers go for key ring fobs :coat:
Not seen many Doe/hind shoulder mounts being posted

At least DMQ is a centralised entity, non profit organisation. The origins of DSC from the BDS which are an animal welfare charity.

I get it, in many cases practitioners have strayed from this mantra. We all know AW who are rip off artists. Maybe this system needs cleaning up. I’m certain there are people on here with a nuanced take on this.

What I am certain about is that PJ et al are not the saviour. They’re in it, from the get go, to edge out competition (as is nicely demonstrated in the video) and maximise their interests.
Origins of DMQ were Peter Watson et al whilst he was deer officer at BASC....
so essentially BASC were always involved from day one...
I think the idea od of BASC getting dsc1 accredited by lantra is to make it more viable for online learning, and I could be wrong but no other DMQ training is accredited by LANTRA, and therefore with the move for "accredited training" to satisfy the powers that be it makes sense that BASC are heading in that direction.

One thing that might put a smile on some faces is that whilst the shooting hunting academy thought they'd be the first for the night shooting course... what they didn't know is that BASC were involved with NE in the working of the new night licence stuff, hence why DMQ (see that as basc) came up with their own course that includes the practical shooting.... something shooting and hunting academy didn't. And therefore the DMQ course has better standing throughout for night shooting applications.

Thank you

so 1 & 2 arent red tape ?? i am stunned you dont see it

I’m stunned i’m having to explain this again.

Of course it is red tape. But it’s been here for decades. Largely unchanged (obviously DSC2 has gone to 1 stalk which I disagree with). It’s not perfect, I didn’t really want to do it myself but did so begrudgingly.

PJ arriving on the scene, quite quickly bringing in level 3, rumours of a 4, is concerning to me. My fear is that it’ll become part of the framework in time. I wouldn’t put it past him, he seems resourceful.

I’m out now chaps have a good day.

Well at least you’re admitting it’s red tape now So why accept it in the first place ? If we’d all said no there’d be far less red tape 🤷🏼 I think PJ is doing a wonderful job of showing how the system is long may it continue

And you don’t think basc are in it for the money ??? 😂😂😂😂
Being in it for the money is fine. Its how he goes about it. When the cl55 license was released one of his first videos was nigh on directed at insurers trying to encourage them to make night shooting certs mandatory for insurance. The dmc3 is an absolute joke, purely a way to part people with there hard earned money in an already very expensive hobby/job. At least basc/dmq/bds etc all contribute back to the industry. Not take take take

I think we must be talking about a different BASC 🤣🤣🤣 turkeys and Christmas how are level 1&2 not being used to make folk part with hard earned cash ?

If DSC1/DSC2/BASC/BDS/DMQ are so useless and worthless and simply money making scams, perhaps the usual suspects with far too much to say would like to share how better to help new stalkers assume the basic knowledge needed to safely and competently enter the interest/profession?

Even better, since such stalwarts of the interest/industry, perhaps they could do us all a favour and instead of whining on and on on every thread that remotely touches the subject, they could use the corresponding time and their encyclopaedic knowledge and vast expertise to get involved and sort out the issues they are so concerned with ensuring all and sundry understand are so woefully deficient.
