Anyone using the 6ppc for larger deer? What would be the best bullet weight and loading?
Yew tree 53gr Super X and pull the tips out if required to stabilise in 1:12 barrel. It's a standard sako75 1/12 twist.
i helped a friend develop a load for exactly this rifle , his goto was 70gr hpbt sierras , it is possible to get it deer legal but you need to run it hot , case wrecking hot to be honest
62gr GS Custom @3350fps is great for deer. Really pity they're out of production as they can cope with up to 1:14 twist I think.

I achieve that with a 20.5" 1:8 barrel in my 6x45. (These drive band bullets are an exception re velocities achieved). In comparison I get just over 3000fps with the 62gr jacketed Barnes VG.in my experience you'd need a long barrel to achieve that velocity with a 6ppc

6PPC will exceed that with its bigger case capacity.
Certainly a challenge without encountering enlarged primer pockets. You want something fast as possible and I am struggling to see how you get 3200fps with even a 75gr in a 24"

They're great - one of the original turned copper bullets and still up there with the best. I have a few hundred which should last me years. These were meant to be the gold standard for monolithic bullets
I didn't say they were legal, but I'm reliably informed that they work very well. You want something fast as possible and I am struggling to see how you get 3200fps with even a 75gr in a 24"

And if you are dropping to 62gr even 3350fps isnt deer legal in England let alone Scotland
