Recommended bullet weight ?

Hi All,

I’m starting out shooting and loading for .308.

I’ll soon have a rifle with 1:10 twist, 24” barrel.

I intend to shoot targets 100-600 yard distances.

What would be the best choice for bullet weight as a starting point for load development?

Alternatively, is it a better idea to buy a selection of factory ammo in different weights and see what works best and take it from there?

I use 165 SST, 178 ELDX home loads for animals and steel. Plus Berger 185 juggernauts. The ELDX are more stable at longer distances over 800. They are all great. Very accurate. If I do my part all sub moa out to still distances.

lapua 167 scennars, and if you check the Viht chart, N150 at the higher end of the scale shows "most accurate" load.
