After a few years with my dcs1 I've decided to do my dsc2. Filled out all the paper work. Now waiting for my witnessed stalk.
After completing the stalk and the approved witness puts there report in. How long is it roughly before you get a call from the assessor.

As said, it will vary depending on the individual Assessor and how busy they are.

As a guideline, I recently witnessed a Candidate on a Saturday morning.

Both of us submitted the necessary follow-up documentation that same weekend.

By the Thursday of the following week we had both received the call from the Assessor.

Almost exactly the same last month for me and a candidate - an absolute pleasure to do.

However, I had one assessor who strung on a candidate for 3 months 🤬 as he was giving priority to his DSC2 candidates! That left a bitter taste in my mouth on a lot of accounts. It also made me question whether DMQ monitor the elapsed times for both witnesses and the assessors.

With the candidates prior permission, I take a few key photos during the stalk and provide them to him after we have finished. That way, I can quickly re-familiarise myself with the actual stalk (a picture paints a thousand words) when speaking to the assessor, as well as having my narrative in front of me, especially if a lot of carcasses/candidates have flowed under the bridge since then. They might also prove useful just in case...... ;)

Duly deleted at my end once the candidate tells me he's received his certificate.

Similar to the experiences above I think mine worked out at about a 6 week wait last year. Neither my AW or I had any acknowledgement of receipt at all.

I emailed the Assessor a couple of times asking for confirmation that they had received everything satisfactorily but had no response. About 4 weeks in, I tried BDS training as the provider and then had an email from the Assessor with a series of available dates.

I submitted my candidate narrative 9 weeks ago and have had no response from my assesor. Since my witnessed stalk i have been busy with the doe cull most days, so how I'm meant to remember the details of that 1 stalk now is beyond me.Both myself and my aw have emailed him several times and haven't had any reply. I have also been in touch with basc training center to see if they can move things on,, but still no word from the assesor. To be honest I think it's a disgrace the way the level 2 is run. Lots of us have been stalking all our lives and shot thousands of deer but now we need bits of paper to show we know what we are doing.
The most annoying thing is that personally I've been a member of basc for over 30 years and have never needed them for anything, the one time I pay to do a course and you find out how what a shambles the organisation is.
It's also deeply frustrating when emails are ignored by assesors, it's ignorant and unprofessional.
Rant over for now.
