I am under 10 in total and struggling to find a permission with deer and i am 69yrs old .
I do paid stalking from Kent to Hereford and Hampshire.
Been out with Timmy as you call him a few times verry blunt does not like C--ts but yes he does have that number of deer to shoot.
He made me skin a red never again Tim :old: next time I see him i will be tacking him some spray can's for the winch and cart..

oh the irony................

Seems a pretty interesting poll to me and will be interesting to see if the "braggers" admit to what they shoot rather then putting down those of us who havent got 1,000s of deer within 1 field of where they live.

I reckon I have shot just over 110 deer since I started.. though I shot 55 last year and at 19 year to date so getting "better".
My point is if you shoot 55 a every year the answer is 55 if you are aged 20 but 3,300 if you are aged 80.
So the question "how many deer have you shot" is pretty meaningless

Dont disagree but its still an interesting question. Frankly most of the polls on here and post are pointless...pointless doesnt stop it being relevant or fun :)

Given I dont have more then a handful of deer within 1 hour of where I live and I shoot most in the SW with a mate I have to try a lot harder then some to get my small numbers ... does that make it any more impressive...well frankly who cares :)

As stated I 69yrs old only been stalking last few years.
Been shooting shotgun since seventeen years old so i have missed out on deer stalking. :scared:
Hope to get a few more years as it is great.

I think all contribute.

At one end of scale is the busy office bound professional or businessman who has very few days a year free. Happy to spend lots of money on a good adventure with a really good story / memory at the end of it. He might only shoot one or two deer a year, only one or two days phaesant shooting or a buffalo or two in a lifetime but the money that comes into the system underpins everything.

Other than tax payers money through grants etc, and venison sales and wealthy landowners (whose money comes from elsewhere) there is not a lot else coming into fund deer management.

Professionals employed by land owners, or running their own businesses on others land cannot exist without any of the above.

Then there are many of us who are recreational stalkers in one form or another. Stalking is a passion / a hobby but is not our primary source of income. Some us can defray the costs, but fundamentally a days stalking is a day not working, and for each its a personal choice - do I go into the woods, or do I spend a day at my desk dealing with clients.

I was chatting with a ghillie on a river a few weeks ago. He was bemoaning that the rest of the party were all very inexperienced and didn’t know how to cast or catch fish. The rest of the party all worked in London, typically spent 2 hours a day commuting and 10 hours a day in the office. I had to remind him of the fact that it was their money paying his wages, and that allowed him to spend his life on the river bank ……

Heym SR20

I must be lucky my first few stalks were from SD member who got me my first Roe.
Done a some paid stalks that were great and one or two that was a paid walk and a three hour drive each way and no chance of a deer (bloody novice put him there )
Been helped by the ESSEX warrior Mr Tim.243 :thumb:
All been a learning curve on my journey of stalking

What do you reckon on your numbers mate...has to be over 2,000. Will be interesting to see if Terminator Timmy has his big boy pants on and gives you a figure (I wont see it)...since he likes to belittle us all the time saying we would get a lifetime out of a knife as it takes us that long to shoot 60 deer   Lots of those who give but dont like it back 👍
Silence is Golden ......strange as Timmy is usually the first to tell us all how he's shot 1000 munties in a 9 acre field in 6 months 😂

Don't upset him though as he will run along to Admin again and get the thread closed.

In the meantime I await his reply 😁

Im happy to admit that I am full of shite and shoot very few deer with a crappy Sheepmoor and have limited experience so am happy to learn.

Fed up with idiots who claim there way is the only way...golden age of stalking crap .... dont use digital ... no wonder there are issues with deer numbers ..then they dont have the balls to put their money where their mouth is  Like saying the creed is rubbish having never used one 🥰
