Range marker thingy

This is one for the smallbore people probably.

I normally have my .22 zeroed for 50m or 75m.
I don't have mildots, so normally if I'm shooting at different ranges, I adjust the scope.
I then either set it back to 50/75 or text myself the range it is set at.

However, invariably, I lose track and must re-zero.

Does anyone have a suggestion about how to easily mark / store what the zero is set at?
I don't have ballistic turrets. Using a Simmons Aetec scope, and a cz 452.

Treat yourself to a scope with target turrets, or buy a paint pen and mark zero, like a witness mark. Where you say you have no alternative aim points, if its a duplex ret, you have where the think post meets the crosshair, you could take this one step further and have the upper part be you zero point, then you have two other aimpoints below it, the actual crosshair and the lower part of the duplex, or pick a zero that gives you the best PBZ (point blank zero)

Hold over keep turrets zeroed
Drop chart your drops at various distances and see if ties up with any of your vertical mildots
Pick up a scope with dailable turrets
Or go for digital like zulu 5x20 with a lrf and auto BC on it

The Simmons scope has recessed screw turrets. I usually turn them with a round.

Taking photos is what I do with my scopes and what is shown above. I keep a local copy of the photos on my phone for reference in the field.

Yeah, I think I'll dot the zero at 50.
That should make it easier to remember rather than trying to keep the range last used in mind.

Its a lovely scope, and I get on well with it. Even though it has no markings at all on the cross hairs.

I picked up a Nikko Stirling as it has illumination and mildots some time back but stopped using it after a couple of months. Couldn't get comfortable with it at all.

This is what I do with my CZ455 with a Minox 2-7x35 zeroed at 55 yards with known real world drops and rises at 10 yard increments.

Leaving the turrets alone I simply range the target, mentally consult the drop information and use this to aim over/ under the target using the target size as a reference.

Say the target happens to be a rabbit, which it usually is, and is out at 65 yards. I know the correct place to hit the target and I know the target is by and large 2 1/2" chin to scull but my drop at 65 yards is, for example, 3/4". Using the target as a "scaling" reference I simply aim high 3/4" relative to the target.

Rudimentary? Maybe so but for all my faults I'm a dyed in the wool KISS kind of individual.
