New Stalker - First rifle - Advice

I currently shoot target rifle using vernier sights at 200 and 500yds and yes the targets increase in size as the distance increases so that they look equivalent in the front sight. Its essentially the same targets on the F Class range I believe.

My 7.62 Target rifle uses similar, easy straight out to 1000yds. Personally, I don’t like low mag scopes, but with those targets you’ll be fine obviously. Realistically, you’ll end up with different rifles for different jobs, pretty much as everyone else does.

Think of it like cars. No matter how much you try, you cannot make an SUV a sports car, without so may comprises, it becomes a rubbish SUV lol

Sorry. But sack the idea of the ace game for stalking. Lovely rifles to shoot, but horrid idea to lug around...

If you're right handed, this as a set up would take some beating.

Was in the shop the other day, and that scope is 🔥 🔥 🔥 Also has parallax adjustment, so for your 500m shooting you get a bit of a nod there - most (if not all) 3-12x won't have parallax.

I already own a Barnard 308 target rifle - my goal here is to find a rifle I can use for stalking as well as occasional F Class Scoped Target shooting.

If you are going to do stalking a traditional stocked rifle are nicer to handle and carry. It might be easyer as the new guy if you have simlar gear as the rest of the hunters.
My understanding is the Ace Game has rapidly established itself as a credible option in the UK for Deer Stalking.

I've handled both options and thought the Ace Game seemed very accessible.

thanks Chris

I could be wrong but I don’t think there’s many people using tactical chassis rifles specifically for stalking in the uk…mdt/pse etc synthetic stocks with all the doodads sure loads of people but an actual target chassis?
I don't have any definitive insights but the people I've spoken to have had favourable feedback

What stalking will you do? Feels like there is a nice old school stalking rifle with your name on it (and a S&B 8x56) somewhere for a couple of hundred quid weighing in at 8.5lbs and the target rifle can be a target rifle. If you are just high seating you’ll can get away with more.
I held the Ace Game today and it seemed pretty light if I'm honest, no meaningful difference opposite the traditional rifles. I'm 6'4" and 19st

Couldn’t tell you exactly but it’s nowhere near 14lb. A sporter profile barrel carbon fibre stock with a lightweight F&D mod. Some of the ground i stalk is pretty unforgiving. A heavy rifle soon looses it appeal whilst walking out with a couple of roe on your back.
I shouldered the Ace Game without a scope today. Didn't feel at all heavy. Also, I'm 6'4" and 19st so weight is relative to me.

Oooo but it will! When youve walked a few miles, with your kit, and a couple deer, it soon adds up quick!

Personally id avoid the ace game, metal chassis's are fookin cold in winter. Really nit a nice time holding them. Been there, done that. Get a t3x varmint/ctr or similar. It will still shoot as well, it will be a bit lighter, a bit more manageable and you can still use it on the range

Yeh the ace games look nice, they really do and if you were shooting PRS or target predominantly, I'd say go for it.
