If you were to have an incident, eg you had a car accident, and police were involved and you had unlicensed air weapon, then it will be treated as having an unlicensed firearm with all the botheration that can lead to.
Scottish animals are tough, don’t be fooled. Lots on ‘good reason’ for larger calibres in England due to ‘Scotland’… things take longer to die here and could even fight back.
Its a mare going up to Northumberland as depending on the route you take it may pass through Scotland. I dont bother taking air rifles now for that very reason.

Is there a need to have a visitors permit to take a shotgun. (from England) into Scotland. I ask because I have had conflicting answers when doing a "Google" search.
When the change was first made, one could take an air rifle to Scotland if one had a shotgun certificate, as it was covered under that I believe. I think was a temporary measure, and may have lapsed now, but worth looking into if yiubhave SGC
