Out last night.

Ditto - ignore it and carry on! Lots of threads / bits of the forum / users I ignore but this area is one I come back to.
Agreed ... I am finding the "ignore" button seems to be getting used more and more these days :)

At least threads like this one are generally for the sensible ones lol

Out Sunday night for a look on one of the farms who have just silaged ...but havent spread slurry so nice clean fields :)

Calm night and pleasant to be out. Saw plenty of hares and a barn owl which is always a pleasure to see. Fairly quiet but managed a 150 yard chest shot on a vixen. The 58 grain Varmint X .243 rounds certainly do an effective job.

I actually feel bad when lip squeaking and you see the barn owl come flying in from 200 yards away, then stop and it turns, then call and in it comes again...wasted effort on its part :) Much better when the foxes come in as well 👍
Yep many a time I've had them come to a lip squeak and hover above my head. Once saw 3 together and squeaked all 3 in back and forth.

The one that really threw me ..and I nearly fell of the tail gate of the pickup..was a tawny thinking it could try and land on my head..scared the crap out of both of us...one of the best shooting related memories I think I will ever have :)

We were calling a fox one night when a tawny flew into the window of the landy straight at my pals head
We still laugh about it now too

Mine was a little bit more gentle. Stood on the tailboard with rifle on the roof of the truck watching a chicken shed. I felt something knock the back of my head so spun round and put the torch on to see a tawny flying off...how the hell I didnt fall off the back of the truck was beyond me...absolutely brilliant...fortunately it was cold so had a wooly hat on :)

I was stood on back of truck calling one night with Rick
One hit me straight on the back of head. You would of enjoyed it
Rick was laughing his head off. I was not so amused

Heard an unsettling comment last night "put some burnt out light bulbs in fox earths and they will move on" Hmm. Not my style at all I don't even use a caller.

Sounds like an old wives tale and I wonder if the move to LED makes a difference :)

Why may I ask that you don't use a caller? Brilliant bits of kit for the serious fox shooter 👍

I was told that they are illegal here in Germany but have not gone any deeper into it to check, I sit out mainly for boar and a fox for me is a welcome bonus usually around 11pm as often there are no shows on the boar.

Apologies ... forgot you weren't in the UK 👍
