Best scope for around £1200?

I've been reading and digesting recommendations and thought I'd also ask Chat GPT to help with analysis of various options.

This has been surprisingly helpful so I'm sharing the output.

Interesting. Especially as it’s pretty American focused in its offerings until you asked to add in Swarovski and Delta options. I would guess this is because far more has been written on scopes over the pond than over here and AI draws on this.

Only comment I would make is that the Delta is probably superior to the Zeiss V4 range and that 44mm objectives are more suitable for American hunting conditions which aren’t focused on low light.

yes, it's definitely US focused. I thought it was interesting how insightful it was though.

After much deliberation and chats with various people I decided to go over my budget and bought a Swarovski Z6i Gen III 4-24x56 with the Ballistic Turret.

Got a fair price from a major scope retailer - went with the flip up covers and Sportsmatch High mounts. Coming next week all being well.

Well done - I guess the Mrs doesn't know you went over budget, or even what the original budget was... ;)

I'm looking at glass scopes for around the £1200 mark.

A review suggested the following might be good options.

1. Delta Stryker 4.5-30x56
2. Burris Veracity PH 4-20x50
3. Zeiss Conquest V4 4-16x50 or 6-24x50
4. Steiner Ranger 4 4-16x44

What else would people throw into the mix

I aim to do UK stalking and 200-500yd targets on the range.

Carl
Worth a look at Arken Optics. I’m running the SH-4J 6-24×50 FFP — the “J” variant has the Japanese glass upgrade over the standard SH-4. FFP MIL, illuminated VHR reticle, zero stop, 34mm tube. About $450 USD direct from Arken Optics USA — UK distribution available through the usual channels. Tracking has been spot on, glass punches above the price point, and 6-24× covers both your 200-500yd range work and UK stalking on the same rifle. Veteran-owned, lifetime warranty, guaranteed tracking. Comes in well under your £1200 ceiling — leaves real budget for rings and a ballistic app subscription, or step up to the EP-5 7-35×56 Gen 2 (their flagship Japanese-glass long-range) if you want to use the full budget.
