22-250 round for muntjac

50 gr Vmax is all you need, just put it in the right spot😉
This is absolutely correct. Nothing is going to move an inch if you correctly head or neck shoot them.
Munties are tuff little buggers though and in my experience a lot depends on whether or not they're on to you. I've chest shot an alert one with a 150 grain soft point with my 308 and it's run nearly 80 metres into cover. Makes me wonder what the result would've been if that bullet had weighed 55 grains.

A good evening all
I’ve been using federal 55gr soft noses for 2-3 years now in my tikka t3. And have been really happy with them near enough thumb nail groups at 100 yards of if I do my bit

I Went into the local gun shop and they have stopped stocking the federals now due to lack of sales so I’ve bought up the last few boxes.
He has in sako 50gr, hornady 50gr v max, ppu 55gr soft noses and some 55gr winchesters. All of which are abit expensive for my likieng epically the sakos 😂
Are the worth the extra the sakos or is it worth a punt on one box of ppu and see how they shoot

Cheers Rob
Iv been using Hornady varmint extreme 50gn on Muntjack for a while now, I almost exclusively take headshots at the distances in shooting and there isn’t much left of the head after, more than suitable for muntjack

I ended up going for 55gr federal v max. ( it says a hornady bullet on the box )
They seem ok, I agree with the headshots I tend to do the same as I’m never shooting over huge distances

Ahh fair enough, great rounds as well! And exactly, I almost never shoot Muntjac beyond 175-200 ish so no issues taking clean shots without making a mess in the chest

Only shop I can find that stocks them is just over and hour away.
The other two also stock sako so I might have to be a tight arse and go for those
Whereabouts in Leicestershire are you? Have you tried vale field & game, hickling?
