Barbour

The zip out liners were in later models, the early models had a pile lining that was extremely warm and used small press studs. I imagine yours is one of the reimagined versions of the older designs
It says Classic Northumberland, has 3 crowns.

Got an old Barbour the longshore man made it on to the clothes show back in the 80s
Put it in to have the sleeves lengthend was advised not to have owt dun to it due to its age was one of the very early Barbour jackets god knows how old it is 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
You should probably have a look at the price these fetch before modifying it.

I’ve always wanted a made in UK Barbour jacket, the waxed cotton one, but didn’t want to pony up the $400 plus for it. My wife was attending an online auction last year and sure enough there was one in my size, she paid $25 for it. I ordered genuine Barbour wax and waxed it last July. I don’t know the model, it has a zip out lining and a corduroy collar, it is near new condition. All I need now is a Holland & Holland side by side in 16 ga and a bird dog. There are something's nothing else will do, it’s got to be Barbour and got to be made in the UK. Same with Burberry.

Good purchase. Don’t forget you will so need a Range Rover with a mahogany drinks service in the boot (trunk).

I have the Northumbria too. Had mine years. Barbour run a mail in service over here where you can send your jacket have it cleaned, waxed and repaired. I sent mine off last year and for £60 they, cleaned, waxed and replaced an inside lining panel that I had ripped on a piece of barbed wire. Came back looking like new. If you look after then they will last a lifetime.

Eventually loathed all three of mine Solway zipper x2 and a Beaufort, still have them and no will to chuck em out? Repair kit in the tin several polish tins wax, wax in a tub tin. Why do we keep this stuff ?

Hello, Well worth saving your Zippers and Beaufort coats , There is a shop in Oxford that sell second hand Barbours for ££££££££ssssssss, to the elite of Oxford Dons

Hello, I was just trying to think what i paid for my zipper in the 1980s with the money i got for beating on some local shoots, Would not have been to expensive as we had our 2 Sons and a mortgage !!!!!

I have a couple of waxed jackets and a gilet, I keep them around mostly to remind me just how bad outdoor clothing used to be.
They stink and can’t be washed, they all have holes in them and cost a fortune to repair. They leak and you freeze your arse off because there’s no insulation. I haven’t taken out the hair dryer and “ buttered” them in decades, life is just too short.
I use the gilet for hedgerow bashing. The other 2 just hang there daring me to put them on.
Give me the modern stuff, things with waterproof liners and instructions for the washing machine, things that actually keep you warm and dry.
The old wax jackets may have lots of character, whatever that means, but a hell of a lot of it is down to poor choice of materials for the purpose.

Not sure why all the negativity towards Barbour wax jackets or any other brand of wax jackets for that matter. Yes modern shooting gear with Gortex or Seetex linings are more comfortable, breathable, weather proof and wind proof, but you can’t beat a Barbour wax jacket when beating through the undergrowth and brambles where most modern materials would be ripped to shreds. My Barbour has its place and that place is in the beating line.

Actually that could be on my bucket list. A worn out Barbour solway, a webley 700, old eley paper case cartridges and a walk around a rough shoot on a rainy day with my spaniels. I've even got a small amount of the old formula Young's left to complete the aroma!

You’ve got the worstest case of 70’s nostalgia I’ve ever heard of .
You forgot the black wellies that always leaked and the cotton army surplus cammo trousers.
Other than that, you’re pretty much spot on.
