I’ve always wanted a made in UK Barbour jacket, the waxed cotton one, but didn’t want to pony up the $400 plus for it. My wife was attending an online auction last year and sure enough there was one in my size, she paid $25 for it. I ordered genuine Barbour wax and waxed it last July. I don’t know the model, it has a zip out lining and a corduroy collar, it is near new condition. All I need now is a Holland & Holland side by side in 16 ga and a bird dog. There are something's nothing else will do, it’s got to be Barbour and got to be made in the UK. Same with Burberry.

Classic jackets, had one as a teen, then a Swandri that my father brought me back from NZ. Neither really kept me dry, but at least the Swandri kept me warm due to the wool lining.

Much prefer modern materials for shooting, though I confess to owning a quilted Barbour jacket for pub visits :)

I had a Northumberland jacket that I bought in 1988 that had lasted for many years then there was a special offer of them from the Penrith shop so I bought another for £80 odd which still is in my wardrobe unused as I never wear them anymore, it is too cold in Bavaria in winter and they stiffen up too much to wear and during spring / Autumn they are too warm to wear.

Hello, It could be a number of Barbour wax coats, Even the Solway zipper had a lining but more likely a Border , How many Crowns by the Label ?? , I recently picked up a nice Barbour Jacket, The non waxy kind , Water/Windproof. £35 , Still have my old Border, Should have kept my Zipper ,

Got a what I think I remember is a Solway Zipper ( large) somewhere in the wardrobe… I’ll never wear it again… any interest?

( with a tin of wax conditioner and gen Barbour repair kit)

DM me….

Got an old Barbour the longshore man made it on to the clothes show back in the 80s
Put it in to have the sleeves lengthend was advised not to have owt dun to it due to its age was one of the very early Barbour jackets god knows how old it is 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

They stink when they get older, they fray (if not looked after) and they have the thermal qualities of a wet wipe but…..

1. If looked after they are very 2.waterproof
3. Windproof
4. Truly thornproof

Good for early in the season especially if you’re on a shoot one beat one basis with thick cover.

And are quintessentially British and so therefore in a class of their own.

The outlet (MacArthur Glen) at Bridgend had some nice examples on the rail when I last went in.

I got to fat for my Barbour Solway. Then I wore out my first Northumberland. Now have second hand Northumberland but lighter cotton from off Vinted.

Got a proper made one there BB.I owned several Barbours back in the day, sold them or traded them for other Barbours.
I had the camouflage one which I sold for £20 back in the late 80's.
I had a Northumbria but it was massive on me.I always liked The Beadale as it was short, lightweight so when leaving "permissions" as a teenager in a hurry i could clear barbed wire fences & gates with ease 😄😄

The zip out liners were in later models, the early models had a pile lining that was extremely warm and used small press studs. I imagine yours is one of the reimagined versions of the older designs

I got a Percussion reversible jacket and trousers from Deben Industries around thirty years ago, and they're still going strong. The jacket has seen a lot of wear and has faded a bit, but it's still okay.
