When you put it like its not too bad I suppose but its still extortionate when you look at the form. Literally a few tick boxes and a signature. Not really is it ?
5 year ticket, £110 ober the 5 years Is £22 a year so £2.36 a week.
Cheap as chips in fact you can’t buy a pint for that.
Dont blame the docs, they werent consulted and its not part of their job for nhs. When you put it like its not too bad I suppose but its still extortionate when you look at the form. Literally a few tick boxes and a signature.

Guidance for GPs on the firearms licensing process
We set out the BMA position on firearms licensing and what to do when someone applies for a firearms licence, including responding to the police and conscientious objection.www.bma.org.uk
Yes, it is not covered by their NHS contract, so it is private work that will be charged for, I know it won't be free.
It would be like me charging a half a day's money for an hours work. I have no doubt you'd have a whinge if someone did it to you.Is extra work for them, do you work extra for nothing?
Don’t blame them
Mine wanted cash as well, but then again, what doctors surgery's are set up for charging and taking payments? My GP practice Insists on cash, can't remember how much but I suspect they are pocketing this and not declaring it as earned income.
Seriously considering reporting them to HMRC.

You have to put that into the context of both your income and outgoings, not everyone has bucket loads of money to spend on things. Not really is it ?

Why shouldn’t they make a quid? What makes you think they should do it for free?It would

It isnt their fault as really it should be included in the renewal fees but its hardly a surprise to them, surgeries have been doing it for a long time, and theres no need to profiteer out of it.
