Well I have spoken with Dickson's up in Dunkeld and they were very helpful and looked back through their ledgers.
It was originally sold in 1920 to Barclay & Curle Shipbuilders on the Clyde for the sum of £75. This was expensive at the time and they also told me that the shipbuilding companies were a major buyer of fine Scottish guns - presumably for use by directors, or for clients.
The 25" ribless barrels were a later addition. Alex Martin did n't start producing these till the late 1920's and additional barrels did n't get recorded in the ledgers. Some more details on these below.
