What a great idea, if I get the opportunity I'd give it a go, all my shooting up to now has been indoor at a bench so not really in the spirit of black dot of doom, Dsc1 shoot was done off a tripod for the standing and sitting not sure how good my groups were but passed so never questioned, will print it off an stick it in my bag :)

Now that is both fun and a realistic assessment of one's skills and familiarity with one's rifle

Highlights the difficulties associated with using a shed load of rifles and a shed load of different ammo

Does it?

Considering the kill zone is 4x the dot minimum which gives a a very long point blank range for deer energy rifles, zeroed at around 175-200 most are point and shoot 50-250 yards.

Shot the first deer with my Creedmoor Tuesday as normally use 6.5 x 55 with 8x56 but I knew shot would be 200-250 yards, the Creedmoor having a 3.5-21x mil hash type ret. Got on to the fallow, could have had shot at 270 but closed to 230 before they got jumpy. 1/2 mil holdover and the shot was text book, clipped top of the heart and took both lungs.

Regularly shoot foxes with .223AI but also occasionally with hornet, they still fall over on the spot.

For my BDOD no shots were on as my swede is zeroed 2” high at 100, you can see the progression on the target as I’m trying to walk it in. All would have been very dead deer though!!

Needless to say, everything that went on the Shoot 'n' See targets were 1/2-1" low and left, but this is the one that counts.
BSRC range is 95m/103yds which is neither fish nor fowl, but that'll do for me! :smug:
