Too slow, I'm thinking. Switch to a faster powder. I use Varget in my 6.5x55 with 120 PPU's.~Muir

I forgot to ask the rifle, and barrel length. If it is rifle, with longer barrel, W760 / H414, IMR-4350, H-4350, RL-17 and RL-19 will give great velocity with accuracy ( W760 and 4350s very good ). But a full load of N-160 should do the job, at lower MV, too. Change primers.

Try and get a fast powder mty H414 is nr the same as Varget on the burn chart and is a good powder as a back up for the .308, I used R15 in my 6.5x47 ,

Check that the overall length is within SAAMI spec. If you are loading them longer than spec, try setting the bullet deeper.
When I had this problem with a .243, I was setting the bullets much longer, chasing the lands. Setting them deeper and crimping solved the problem immediately.

hi norm they are all loaded to within saami spec ,cant set them long if i wanted to the spitzers are shortish,i,m not looking for lands just a different load for the rifle,as i say the 140gr amax and 140 gr pro,s are ok,as are the factory privvis.;)I have n140 but heard it was a barrel burner.looks like i will have to try another powder for that weight bullet,:( i,m leaning towards imr4350 as i could try the 129gr interlocks as well then.

I was up to 49grain s with the 120 pro hunter s with N160 was a good combo , I'm now using the 140 gk with Swiss rs60 witch is reloader 17 as others have said I would try a faster powder especially if you have a short barrel

Magnum primers work well with ball powder like H-414 in longer cases like the 7x57 and .30-06, without increasing pressure, but don't know that they will buy you anything in the shorter powder stack of the 7mm-08. I was suggesting changing to another LR primer, just to see if you have a box of duds.

You won't be wasting your money if you save the N160 for heavier bullets, and buy a pound of H-4895 for the 120s.

Thanks for that i will get some different LR primers,i will check if i can get a different powder from my source.I really fancy these lighter bullets.just to add i,m getting 2.999 col with the spitzers ,all full length sized to 2.165/cleaned/prepped/primed identicaly

2.999" inches for a 7mm-08? No, the Sierra 120-gr PH, seated fully into the neck, should be 2.78 inches.
that would put me past the neck base and nearly half the bullet seated?Real Guns - Modern Loads for the 6.5x55 Swedish on here he uses 2.980 that looks acheivable.;) be gentle with me everyday is a school day for me.And i do realize any changes i make to any componants i have to start loads from scratch ie (LOW BACK UP TO HIGH),
