#1289, Portland90 in 'Flame On' G-carta

Finished up yesterday and a bit funky so here it is.

The material is made by G.L. Hansen & Sons in the US, G-carta and it is their Flame On pattern.

All other spec is classic Portland90.

At least that one should not get lost in the field - looks really good
One of my favourite knives is marked "SHEFFIELD - Pat Mitchell - England" and underneath are the words "hand made" - it has an "unzipping" hook and figured walnut scales..
Holds its edge really well and very comfortable to use.

I will try to send photos as attachments - hope it works as I am "computer illiterate". Unfortunately the figuring on the walnut scales does not show up too well on the photos.

That looks great! I think a lot of these plastic coloured handles favoured by some manufacturers are horrible but that looks really classy

Afraid not, well I do but it belongs to a client, I have had it for a few years now and he keeps taking a knife from it.

I like that knife handle a lot. The colours remind me of a experimental glass and epoxy floor I laid in one of Sheffield University cafes for their glass research department many years ago. That floor had dark blue, terracotta and turquoise incorporated in it. It looked great when it was all polished up.

It must be getting on for 25 years ago. I can't recall what building it was in now. The company sent me to do the job with just a rough plan written on a sheet of A4 paper with no measurements. So I did my own interpretation of the drawing. The main body of the floor was dark blue with a wavy edge then turquoise with 3 terracotta stripes across the middle.
I remember it was all, for some reason very hush, hush. The people from the glass research dept were very nice and interesti

Its an excellent stock material - the only one I know of so far is Foundation Stocks from the US, Sporting Services have some as do C2 Precision
