17 hornet

In the end I think we are going to have to trap all fox's from now on and get a stick of dynamite and stuff it in their vent and light the fuse.
It's the only way forward because your not properly dead unless you have been vapourised.

🙄

This has ended up a bit like the Vietnam war... speaking of which, didn't some of the yanks love using captured AK47's because when they hit a gook with that 7.62 x 39 cartridge it stopped them better than their 5.56 x 44 cartridge out of the M16.... I could be wrong and stand to be corrected on that. Personally, if I was going to get shot, I'd sooner it be with a .243/308 rather than a .17Hornet.... I'm sure a fox may feel the same!

problem with that is do not think the police grant a FAC in .308 or .243 just for fox. Unless someone knows otherwise.

.17hornet will drop a fox on the spot at sensible distance. let’s face it, I expect over many years more foxes have been shot with the .22lr subsonic HP then any other gun/ammo combination.

I had a 308 granted for fox. And 30-30. And 243. And 6.5.

Fox's don't take much stopping at all really 👍

The reason as I understood it was that when asked by an American officer as to why a soldier was carrying an AK instead of his new back then M16 his reply was "because it works sir".
The first M16's had reliability issues.

I think "issues" is a huge understatement! Stoner's innovative design was based on very tight tolerances and made no allowances for the conditions to be faced in Vietnam. Many, many men died as a result, indeed in a number of filmed firefights there often can be seen guys trying to clear blockages. It took a while but from memory eventually the "black rifle" was remachined and very strict instructions for regularly cleaning them were issued. Meanwhile of course the "rattling good fit" of Mr K's product worked faultlessly. I have been fortunate enough to shoot both - IMHO the M16 was a lovely rifle and very accurate conversely I found the AK to be an awful firearm - totally dependable but inaccurate! It appears to have been designed to match the Russian tactic of sending men straight at the opposition getting off as many rounds as possible of suppressing fire. Of course the one commodity Russia had was an abundance of men!🐺🐺
