Is any one loading or using the longer heavier bullets in a 7 Rem Mag. I mean the above longer heavier bullets, or the 175gr Accubond LR? Or 160gr CX

I ask as if you use the JBM stability calculator it does apparently stabilise these bullets as it takes into account the polymer tip. The traditional berger calculator does not and states they would be unstable. Consensus is that the above may be too heavy but the JBM calculator suggests it would not be. Am aware that 175gr soft point are fine as they are shorter. Partition etc.

It’s partly academic but also practical.

Appreciated none the less, they are a very accurate round. It was more to do with the twist rate and length of bullet for the 7 RM.

I use 175 Eld x now and then , there very accurate but can be a bit brutal !
I use 66grns of vit N-165 @2800 fps . can be a bit punchy but will drop anything you can point at .
Have shot some pretty big reds out at 375m and never felt like I should have moved in another 100m

My rifle is a Sako 75 with a 1:9 twist and a 24-inch barrel or it maybe a 1:9.5 without looking in manual.

Very interesting indeed sounds like it works. I think it’s a 9.5 twist. I think that actually they probably are better stabilised than traditionally though.

Makes me wonder where the Hornady advice to use a 1-8.5 twist or faster factual. Most 7RM are 9.5 I think. The JBM ballistics calculator states they are stable hopefully that is more accurate.

Potentially for slower cartridges that will impart less velocity would be my guess.
