18650 Batteries

I am wondering if anyone has had a problem with 18650 batteries being a different diameter?
I had a visitor heading towards me last night, and my Pard battery went flat, I quickly thought I would pop the one out of my ledlenser head torch, shock, it didn’t fit, the neck of the 18650 ledlenser battery was larger!!

Some Hitachi and Toshiba 18650,s are too fat .
I've now got 2x Torchy boys for my Sytong and use fattys in my Solaris srx .
They should be a " standard " size but as with anything mass produced in China pot luck comes in.

Protected 18650 batteries are normally longer and slightly larger in diameter than non protected batteries
The battery compartment on every PARD I've used will only take unprotected batteries
Protected batteries have a small circuit board fitted to the positive end of the battery that does all the protection stuff, but it needs to be connected to the negative end of the battery to work, and that connecting wire from the negative up the side of the battery to the circuit board is what makes the diameter slightly larger

Cheers

I find the screw on cap of my pard 008S sometimes but fiddly to screw on & batteries poo out like it's tight fit. Yet no bother with any of them in my 007V.
The threads are not that great and sometimes are dirty even when purchased - give them a wipe (male and female) and a bit of lubrication every now and again and when you are putting the top on hold it in place (top) with one finger then gently turn with the fingers of your other hand.

If you are after a cheap alternative, and have an old or redundant laptop, have a look in the battery compartment and you will probably find half a dozen of these in series. If your laptop battery pack has failed then one of them at least will be faulty, but the others will be fine - check for heating up when you recharge them and bin any that get hot. These will all be unprotected.

If you want a very high quality battery with proper UK sourcing from approved distributors, then this is what you need:
