1st rifle 243 tikka?

I believe the T3 has always been one action length.

you are making me question myself here , felt pretty sure the latest models are the first one action fits all ( with a mag packer ) . last tikka i owned was a 595 and that was 100% actioned in the three common lengths as individuals perhaps I might have imagined it but the first time i noted one size fits all with a mag packer was the latest T3x. ( i was up for buying one until I noted the packer and the long action build) I did shoot a 30-06 but then that was a long action anyhow but i am pretty sure it started at 3 action sizes an an old shooting mate bought a 223 tikka that i have convinced myself was on a short action .
Whatever , PERSONALLY SPEAKING! I feel if i am buying a rifle to shoot a particular cartridge i would like it to be sized accordingly . I think many do ? look at why the creed is as it is at the get go , designed medium action long for calibre bullet brief ! People are going shorter still with the likes off the 6mm arc / 22 arc . CZ did the extra short action just for the hornet etc while Ruger just used a 223 to do the job .

As someone who owns both Tikka T3 and T3x I assure you that the actions still have the same footprint.

I did own an M55 that precedes the M695 Tikka produced RT rifles that I have handled and shot.

Tikka M55 and M65 were 2 different action lengths. Early Sako rifles had up to 5 action lengths at one stage I believe. That was starting from an XS action for the .22 Hornet .

The T3 variants external dimensions of the action have not changed from the initial release.

T3 has been one size fits all with mag packer from the beginning. I had very early run .243 and .222, and they were identical except for the bolt face and magazine.

One of the biggest mistakes I made was listen to people on here going on about how this made them inferior. So I sold them, and spent 10 years and stupid amounts of money on all sorts of other things, from Howa to Heym.

I’m now back to T3s, in .222, 6.5CM and 6.5PRC! Should never have changed in the first place.

.243 is ideal for deer and fox if you’re wanting to shoot to 1000y as much as it pains me to say it a 6.5 creed is probably going too be better for distance. A standard profile barrel will be just as accurate for one two or three shots the heavier barrels can stand longer strings of shots before they wander. Tikka t3’s are very versatile there are aftermarket parts for any budget and application if you’re wanting to pimp them up a bit.

Its down to the individual of course every time ! Myself ? I think if i buy a 223 say i want it downsized in the action saving a small amount of weight and bolt stroke length . the overall lop "stock etc" however should usually be built equal to std " the average human " . Be better still if you had three stock dimensions but it is going to hurt the most common purchasers pocket.

Its a funny thing , depending but presently 6 mm arc is doing very well indeed and seems so be the up and coming on one in many events like PRC as you can spot the strikes better and a believe the higher BC of the heavy bullets gives a better BC ? 243 win and 243 imp has always been a top choice in such events again its about the bullet BC and spotting your strikes through the scope- unfortunately 243 win and 243 imp dont tend to offer fantastic barrel life .
Got to say 243 is one heck of a good deer bullet i shot 243 on deer for many years and am just thinking of adding another with the renewal time coming up soon . Just spoke to a mate in Scotland a head stalker on a very big estate in Scotland, he has just swapped over using i think 80 grain copper ? could be 85 ? anyhow he says it is doing just great double shoulder shot on one yesterday at goodly range broke both shoulders and exited ran 20 yards and stone dead dropped !

One huge advantage of the T3 is that the epoxy bedding can be made with a slave rifle and if prepared right any T3/T3X/T1X will fit into the stock. If one has more than one T3/T1 rifles the stock can be changed to suit time of the year/season. Can't do that with most rifles or not to that bedding quality level.
The same stock can be used for the 22LR PRS as with T3's in 6mm/6.5mm PRS config. Same for lightweight hunting rifles.
Some get hung up on a the long action using a 223.... it works lovely, is still lighter than most very short actions. My favourite 223 rifle so far and prefer the smooth longer action.
My 223, with Multipurpose stock unfortunately robbed for some other project, once the deer season is over the 223 will go into the new Evolution stock once it is in production.
