2024 squirrels, post them here.

A couple off my purpose built feeder with sand box backstop opposite parents farm on Monday with CZ 452 .22lr. Used whole grain maize as bait. Think it more satisfying taking these destructive critters out than rabbits tbh. But then don't have too much rabbit grazing trouble on farm since railway banks have been cleared!

Here in the backyard I thought I had 4 of them, once the opportunity presented itself I got rid those, since yesterday I now have done 16, things have slowed down here now, I thought I had nothing else but two appeared out of nowhere and I was ready.

I normally don't take photos, but saw this thread and decided on a more dramatic scene.
If anyone would like some help, I'd be happy to come along with my air-rifle, as I have my doubts any further intruders will come along any time soon.

I came home home today to carnage!
After filling the bird feeder/ squirrel bait station yesterday, today one had dismantled it and the lot was gone!
Ive now rebuilt it with a stronger bolt.

I'll be ready for it, the little....

On a positive note the black birds are doing better in my garden since baiting and shooting the squirrels on a regular basis last summer, as in as soon as one turns up it gets drilled!

I went to fill one of my feeders in a different wood I've not been able to get to for a while - to find it had been repurposed:

Given that my feeder is made from an 81mm mortar round metal ammo box, that is the nest equivalent of Fort Knox 💪🏻

(......and I'm glad I checked after taking the lid off before just tipping in about 20kg of maize.... 🤦🏻‍♂️)

Squirrel feeder can wait. Good luck Mummy Bird 👍🏻
