Wanted: 20kg of scrap lead shot.

Having bought a Caldwell lead sled I now need to fill the weight bag with shot, near a I can tell I’ll need 20KG, it needs to be shot so I can pour it in through a funnel but size doesn’t matter, scrap/sweepings will do, anyone have any for sale?

You'll be lucky getting that. I think you will end up filling it with sand.

I had considered sand but but don’t think the volume of the bag would give me sufficient weight .

You should be able to get scrap lead from a Smallbore shooting range.

My club should have plenty available, but I expect the postage would be prohibitive!

Although I’m talking about a rifle rest bag it’s not to rest on it’s for ballast as in recoil/ rest stability.

I’ve got the same sledge I just filled mine with sand job done

But the weight of sand that fits in the bag is I believe 7 times lighter than that of lead, so how then does sand reduce recoil to the same degree as lead?

Might be useful Clay and Game sell lead shot they may have some water damaged stock if your not in a rush for it I could collect it and bring it to the stalking show save you the postage

If you go on ebay and search " SCUBA lead shot" you can buy 5kg bags,
