.22 air rifle muzzle brake on a .22LR?

Could see some nice looking muzzle brakes on eBay for around £20 for .22 air rifles and wondering what would happen if these were to be tried onto the .22LR? Not expecting the muzzle brake to make any difference on a semi automatic but could it potentially be dangerous? As its made from a single block of metal, could it work if it was purely for cosmetic purposes. Just curious.

Thought of asking the experts in here than trying it out for additional experience and potential Darwin award. Fairly confident that I am not the first one who had this thought.

I would imagine it would be fine.

Just make sure you buy one called a 'muzzle brake' and not a 'flash hider', or 'flash suppressor', the latter are controlled parts.

Nothing. They'd work fine as long as they were just that a muzzle break. If it were however actually a moderator is that (without the necessary s1 authority) is that you'd be breaking the law. However as to in fact if other than adding weight at the muzzle it;d actually do anything I'd be surprised. What I would advise against using however is a "stripper" as I think that you'd possibly get none too pleasant results.

Not to worry, already do have moderators on my ticket. Was only thinking of getting a cheap muzzle brake as a thread protector off eBay but wanted to be sure it wouldn't cause any issues.

A piece of black nylon pipe of suitable internal diameter pretty much will self cut its own thread and works well enough. Then just trim to the required length.
