22 WMR Subsonic Ammo

17 mach 2 is a good in between calibre, my one is the kiddie for rabbits doesn’t knock them about but gives you a little extra ooooomph and low on noise

how about buying a 22 cf hornet or similar full power loads and reload reduced power loads. i use my 223rem for that reason

out saturday night to get a few rabbits, took the hornet just in case i ran into a charlie, unless you head shoot with the hornet they’re only good as fox bait, i tried and played around with a lower hornet velocity round but it’s not like a wmr and vice versa

I have 22lr and 17hmr but looking for one rifle 22wmr and wonder if anyone has come across subsonic ammo. Need a quiet rifle on odd occasions
In principle, having just one rifle (22wmr) to cover .22 subsonic, to .22 high velocity seams great.
I tried it with LR sub, and LR Hyper Velocity.
At short range it was fine but, given the different trajectory of each, I found emembering holdover at 100m or so was tricky.
I don't know the velocity of wmr, presumably it's faster that the LR HV, so the difference in trajectory will be greater.

I guess if you're at short range it will be manageable.
May be experiment with your 22LR and some Hyper Vel ammo 1st.

WMR is from 1500+ to 2250 fps from rifles depending on loading.

Much more stable over the range of a hyper velocity 22.

Regarding hornet reduced loads. I use to buy cheap fmj 45 gn bullets from S&B and either use bluedot or a slower powder like h322 etc. It was easy to get mild loads that were like WMR in performance. It however was mostly to use up powder I had about at the time. I had no real need but yes, if I only had one rifle it was an economical option.
The bullets backwards gave much more shock by the way.

Why not go for n 17 Hornet? Reloadable as it is a center fire the brass will be reusable and the load it sub sonic
