.222 Rem on roe

I wouldn’t read ‘too’ much into what’s on the packet as a lot of the .22CF stuff seems geared towards vermin use from an advertising point of view. Norma 53g? soft points work absolutely fine and have a fox on the front of their packet.

Sako gamehead have always been a fairly popular choice of bullet.

Only about £30 worth (if you know what you're doing), and choose to avoid busting the shoulders. I don't personally like venison jelly, nor do the customers, so I don't accept .22-250 shot roe; if you take a few jackets off them you'll see why... but the .222 is great when the right bullet choice is made, for sure :thumb:

Can’t say I’ve had any issues with the .22-250. Bullet selection making a big difference maybe?

Alot of deer run after chest shots. Had a 30 yard fallow buck run the same distance after a chest shot with a 123gr .30-06. Completely normal on adrenaline.

.222rem is perfect for roe, so is the soft points you are using. Bullets dont always act the same way..they can deflect, they can fragment abit even if a soft point if the velocity is fast enough when they hit the animal or simply if they hit bone. I wouldnt over think it, it certainly seems to have done the job and I would keep using them.

I used Sako 55grn gamehead for years and years but 4 years ago there was a major Cock up in Sako factory which lead to major bolt pressure and extreme lack of accuracy and when I took the 500 rounds back to my supplier and then he went to a ruag meeting the Sako rep replied with oh???thats where they went!!!!!!!!!so there was a known problem but never done anything about it and as used to buy my ammo in 500 job lots that was no good for me so I went onto Norma as personally I believe that European rifles like european ammo but that’s just my thoughts!!!
