223 Moderator Help Please

Hello,
I am looking to get a Moderator for my Tikka .223 Rifle, I mostly do target shooting with a bit of hunting.

I also joined a Range so will be doing a bit of heavy shooting.

Sound Suppression would be my biggest consideration. I have tinnitus so ear protection is key. Second to that would be weight.

My initial thoughts:

Aimsport Triton 50 or 56SII
Seem to have Stainless Internals, Weight also is not too bad at 430 grams. Is the Sound Suppression as good as the Wildcats?

Wildcat Evolution
Wildcat have said that the Evo would not take the punishment of heavy range work (even though mine would be light range work, not that frequently)
Sound suppression and weight are both good on this mod.

Wildcat Predator 12 in the Scout Version to keep the length down.
Wildcat recommend this for Range Work. Quite a large and Heavy Moderator at 600 grams.

What would people recommend?

Any comments appreciated.

Just to add, my range shooting would be just 3 shot strings, at least 5 mins between strings, I’m a light range shooter compared to others I have seen. Thanks

Hausken Extreme does a pretty good job. Out foxing last night with a shooting partner using a 243 and Hausken. I was impressed, quieter than my 22/250 with a F&D

I have a Calibre Innovations Ducis which does suppress well, combined with my LEP100 in ear defending makes it a very comfy experience. JMS Arms also do excellent silencers a touch lighter than the Ducis

PES/MAE are excellent at reducing noise.

I would choose over the barrel, vs end cans now.
I was amazed at the size/noise reduction of the MAE silencer, also lighter than the Ducis.

Forgot to add that I have tinnitus also as the silencer/earpro combo causes zero issues after

Thanks for all the feedback guys, problem is in Ireland it’s very difficult to get moderators.
Does anyone have experience with Aimsport Triton and Wildcat Evo/Predator.

How would ppl rate them against each other?

I'm a big fan of the ASE Utra moderators. They are heavy though

My 223 ASE mod is end-of-barrel, so it does change the balance of the gun a bit (you can get them that partially sleeve back over the barrel too). But it also means that with that weight on the end of the barrel it has an incredibly effective dampening action - recoil and muzzle flip are minimal, you can keep on-target through the scope with no need to re-acquire if a follow-up shot is needed. Also very good noise protection from it

I don't know your laws over there, but I'd suggest if possible shooting other people's guns on a range day, seeing what works for you.

I use the cqb jet-z and mae scout. Very good.

Not used a Triton , but run both Pred 12 and Evo in 223.
You wouldnt think it , but the Pred 12 is a far far better mod than the Evo, less noise , recoil, better quality internals.
Ive used the same combo on my Creed too, started off with the Evo that came with it , and thought it was OK , then changed it to another Pred 12, the difference in felt recoil was very noticeable.
The Pred is worth the extra money IMHO.

I'm running an Aimsport Triton 42s II on my T3x .223 Ticks the boxes for me ref light weight, noise reduction, adds little length/diameter and if your bothered it looks the part. Based in N. Ireland and readily available up here

Do you have a problem with your Super ? A quick call to the Firearms Policy Unit in the Phoenix Park usually gets things sorted.

I have a Wildcat Predator and it is certainly heavy but it is the one that I would use for range use. The company are also very good to deal with.

Hello All,

Thanks for your comments, I am looking to order a Wildcat P12 Scout,

Was hoping that would give large suppression to the 223,

Fingers crossed

Thanks
