..as per the title - Which .223 Moderators to avoid, and which has the best Db reduction?

Think @Edinburgh Rifles did a test on lots of mods and gave results for certain criteria.
It may be a few years old now though.

Best sound reduction - get the biggest Stalon in calibre specific size - web site says 34db reduction on XE149 (I think that’s the right name ) its very quiet definitely ear safe.

For range use and lots of rounds get a JET-Z

I have a JD 224 xtrm on my 5.6x50r. It’s the only combination I ever shoot without muffs on if I don’t have time. It is truly the crack only. Amazing. My ASE JetZ is by comparison deafening.

Sorry absolutely not. The attenuation differs by enough that some are twice as loud as others

Most if not all do pretty much the same job.
Well built , cleanable and a price you’re happy with , that’s my criteria .

I would not buy another A-Tec H2, mine is showing signs of gas cutting on the internal baffles after maybe 350 - 400 .223 rounds, the reason I looked was because my brother took his back to the shop he purchased his A-Tec from with severe gas cutting, after maybe 100 factory .308 rounds, they bored it out for him to tidy it up, he's kicking himself for not buying an ASE.

I was demonstrated 3 different mods one after the other at Ivythorn.

Dpt, stalon and a Freyr and devik 330. The results were unbelievable with the Freyr leading by a country mile.

Wildcat for me . I have one for my 223 & HMR . Very well built mod easy to take apart for cleaning.
