Thanks mate. Potentially worth looking at 1-10 or 1-12 I take it?Yes, although more suited to heavier bullets
I have a fair few factory rounds which are 55grain which is using for a while before venturing down the home load routeFor that weight yes, however I wouldn't rule out going slightly heavier with the bullet, better down range energy, better BC, less affected by wind.
If you're looking at using 53gn Vmax (I'm assuming hand loads over factory) I think a 1:10 twist or faster is recommended due to bullet shape
Stop suggesting 69TMK's I've only got 2000 left1.8 and shoot 69TMKs. Super accuracy and lethal on fur and feather.

Plan to use the 55gr vmax9 twist will be fine for up to a 75gr hpbt like Hornady makes.
It will be just fine, my savage has the same twist rate and shoots well under half inch for 5 shots currently with a 55 grn Sierra Blitz King.Hi all,
Getting a new fixing rifle soon
There is a begara extreme sierra that’s has caught my eye. It’s an 18inch barrel with a 1-9 twist
I plan to shoot 53-55grain is the twist suitable?
Thanks
Jack
It will be fine for those. I shoot 46gr hp up to 75gr Amax from my Savages which have a twist of about 8 5/8”-8 1/2” (they call it 9”) and there is nothing that doesn’t shoot small groups. My ARs are 8” and 7” and I shoot 50-75 gr in them. You won’t regret the 9” as it will allow flexibility with monos if you’re forced to shoot them. My Ruger Hawkeye is a 9 twist and shoots everything for 46-75 under an inch and they aren’t known for one hole groups.Plan to use the 55gr vmax
my 9 twist wouldn't shoot the 75gr amax but i guess that is a little longer9 twist will be fine for up to a 75gr hpbt like Hornady makes.
Would be from a shop so no chance in trying it unfortunatelytry it if you can. I have a 1 in 9 twist with lighter bullets they group like a 12 bore! fine with 69gn and up though
