I have recently applied for a .223, long wait ahead before i get there im sure, but in the meantime want to do some reasearch and found this thread very helpful
I’ve got a 1:8 Tikka T3 and it shoots 60grn VMAX home loads really well. It is also fine with 55grn factory ammo. Your Bergara should be fine with 53 and 55 grn and will give you some headroom to go slightly heavier.
1 in 9 should perform best with bullet weights between 50 to 69 grains. a good balance I have found is 60 to 62 grain GGG SS109 which my rifle loves and happily shots out to 600 yards on a good day.
It will shoot 95 % or greater of lead only the super long stuff will have the potential to throw the towel in , it will stabilise 50 and 55 copper in most designs used for hunting. just stay away from the real long /heavy long range target stuff
I have a Remington in 1:9 in a 24" barrel using 53grn vmax on foxes, deadly accurate out to 250yds. no problems at all with those. I use both factory and homeloads.
