Am running low on powder (H414) for my .243 Ackley.
Having just fire formed some of new brass it’s time to start working up a new load.
Will be using Nosler 90g B/T
Have most Viht powders on hand

Anyone shooting .243 Ackley have any suggestions on which Viht powders I should try?

Thanks

I have a mate who’s got some Ackley cases going spare. I’m sure he’d post them at cost if they’re any use. He offered them to me but they take a bit of hammering to get in a standard chamber.

That seems slow, even for a standard .243?
Your right it is slow, I was about to post an update after testing yesterday, it’s actually whistling along at 3287 average with an sd of 13. Nice load though, good terminal performance.

Nice, only asked as I’ve just picked up a .243 for fox and with 75’s I’m looking 3450-550 fps.

Will be loading yew trees for deer and will be looking for 3250-330 so very similar to your load.

If you can stomach the expense I’d use the yew tree’s on foxes happily. They work very well.

Yeah, I imagine they do, I really like v-max for fox in .223 so figured it’s a good place to start in .243.

I use the yew tree in 6.5 and 7 mm and really like them, I wish they did an 80 in .257 for the sharps

You might be lucky like I have been, hornady 87grn v max shoots to more or less the same poi as the yew tree.

That is the exact average velocity I'm getting with H414 pushing 90g BT's
