.243 bullet weights and why

I had a .243 way back before i started reloading. I shot 75g remington accutips for deer and fox. They shot one hole groups out of a 1-10 barrel.
Don't know if they are still available, but if they are give em a try👍

I find 87g the best compromise for deer and fox. I rarely take shots beyond 200m at night time foxes and damage to chest shot deer is acceptable. Also this bullet weight is very accurate in my rifle.

I had issues grouping with factory 58grn vmax ammo and the 87grn was spot on so used used that when the ammo was cheap enough although started loading for it myself now and stick to the 87grn vmax for fox. Longer barrel life (heard plenty of horror stories on barrel life when pushing them 58grn bullets at bonkers speeds) plus I’ve taken the 87 grn vmax out to 900 yards on steel.

Ps the foxes really don’t like them!

My Savage 99 performs best with 100gn SP (Tiapans, not available anymore).
I put it down to bore wear.
