.243 Bullet

I want to start reloading 100grn .243 but I don’t want to find a bullet that the stock is variable, I understand that some bullets might not suit certain guns but I want to start somewhere, projectile is probably the best place, I don’t want to find a good load then be unable to get components.

What are readily available 100grn .243 bullets?

Would it be correct to assume you’re looking lead core hunting bullet (I’m assuming this as you’ve said 100gr)?

Identify the twist rate of your rifle first, as the old standard 10 twist is marginal for stabilising 100gr traditional lead core bullets.
As above, especially if the bullet has a ballistic tip, which makes them slightly longer, and less likely to stabilise in slow twist rates.

You might be better asking your local RFD.
Someone near Bisley, might ha ve a different experience with consistent supply than Someone in the Highlands.

I use 95gn SST's heads loaded from Hornaday which are close to the factory load as we could get.

The "meat bruising gang" will turn up wailing lol but what you don't want is them getting up and running off!
Last week I shot 2 Red hinds and a Muntjac, the muntjac was facing away so the round went behind the shoulder away from the greens and fell in the ditch. I binned 1 front leg the rest was fine it was around 130 yds
One hind went into the game dealer it was 180 yds went over thrashed around a bit then stopped moving, the lads inspect them as they go in, young Ben gives a thumbs up as it was a tad high but clean all good.
I would say don't tie your self into a particular weight as the on I use works fine.
I can send you a few 100gn Speer's to try if you want to load them to try.

There is now no legal need to use a 100gn bullet in the 243. Instead look at 80 to 90 gn bullet designed for your intended quarry. It shoots faster, flatter and more terminal energy than any 100gn bullet.

85 grain Gameking I have been using them for years from fox to reds never a problem. possibly the best bullet I have ever used, even in Africa.
