.243 win loads for 55gr Ballistic tip

Hi Folks I’m new to the directory and I wondered if you could help?

I am shooting a tikka T3 lite in .243 Winchester. and I have got hold of some old stock Nosler ballistic tipped 55gr heads.
I wondered if any of you reloading sage’s have any tried and tested loads?

Used them to good effect with ramshot hunter (when it was cheap)

Get a good case fill on them and you have to seat them short. Personally I found them brilliant out to 200m.

Only issue was on a windy night I struggled so went up in weight

I used to use H380 with nosler 55gn.

Shot remarkably flat. Took some tweaking to get right

Thanks for tip. Will have to see if I can get hold of some H380.

I find RL15 good with 58gr VMax - although it seems impossible to but RL15 at the moment.

They are not 'heads' they are bullets.
A load for 1 is not the same for another, some of the powders mentioned are no longer available and others are in very short supply.
You are best to check with your local RFD/suppliers to find out what powders they have and will be available going forward, check with that manufacturers website and work up a load for your roifle using their data.

Calling bullets, heads doesn't inspire confidence.

yet again another post interrupted by the bullet police . I use pills, speed kings ,even heads as sold by many shops in there sales adds ! I also use bullets all seem deliver the result and the same thing !! Correct me if Iam wrong but it was load data he is after not a lecture ..

I thought he was looking to learn too, eg; That REACH has made a lot of powders unobtainium (which he obviously didn't know as he said he would look for some H380) and that this forum has an extensive list of powder 'status data' along with a lot of advise and information. (for example; You are best to check with your local RFD/suppliers to find out what powders they have and will be available going forward, check with that manufacturers website and work up a load for your rifle using their data).

Learning to distiguish between marketing term and technical data is also important when reloading (IMO).
Heads is a term invented by (mainly UK) retailers that are trying to attract and persuade those who don't really know what they are doing from their hard earned cash.
Dumbing down to their customers so they can employ the unintelligent and attract the uneducated.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't this 'group' give out correct/accurate advise/information ..

It should! but not in a way that looks to be ridiculing a member .
Heads ,slugs, and all the slag words have been around for more years than anyone alive today.
What this site should do and do's most of the time is give and share information and tips that help others ! but we do have a few members that feel it is a spring board for their own enjoyment on the backs of others and feel they need to side track a post that a clear reach out for help .

I've got 2 tubs of H414 and 1 tub of Winchester 760; all unopened @ £40 each. However, if you buy all 3 tubs you can have them for £100.00
H414 and Win 760 are essentially the same powder just a different band name.

one thing the op will find for certain is using the 55gr BULLET for his reloading needs his rifle barrel will be shot out in less than 1000 rounds unless he is happy with larger than expected groups. 70gr bullets upwards will give a much better barrel life. your rifle your choice.

Anything North of the M25 is Up north to us Essex boys

70 grain bullet is excellent choice (imo) for .243. I’ve used them with success from fox to fallow.
