Although I'm not the other side of the pond I do shoot a Ruger No1 in 257 Roberts.
My wife has a 250 Savage AI and between the two of us we also shoot three 25-06 rifles.

I shoot a 257 Roberts and love it. Very underrated calibre Imho. Not many of us in the UK for sure!

I used a 25-06 quite a bit in the 1990’s. Stalking colleague also has one. A very effective cartridge for open ground.

I have 25 CM and 257 WBee, one is very precise, the other is marked "Meat Stik"...absolute death ray....

It’ll drop a deer dead in its tracks. Killed many a deer with a 257 ackley and a few with a 25 cm

Use a 25-06 on Fallow bucks now. Too much for body shots on Roe or Munties. Tends to remove too much meat.

I have shot pronghorn and deer with a 257 Roberts, bang flop. Of course, my shot placement was correct. Low recoil and the rifle was a small ring 98 Mauser with a Douglas barrel. Extremely accurate but the thumbhole stock was not comfortable to carry so the sling was employed.

Never saw it on live game but over the chronograph it was impressive

Know a keeper in Norfolk using 257 Roberts+P,reckons it's magic on reds his way.
Think he's using 130/140 grain.

Handloading can take it to next level. I have used both 100 solids @ near 3800 fps and 110 accubonds @ 3500. Brass be damned in a hunting load.

Never understood why the .25 cal rifles were never popular in the UK.
The standard ones are ideal for everything in the UK.
