.270 non lead

I'm using Hornady Superformance 130grn .270 in my Remington 700 and it works well. My shots are generally within 150 yards but there's not reason why it wouldn't be effective at the distance you require

evening ,after some advice from the Scottish stalkers please
I have a .270 at the moment that I use for hind culling in Sutherland .
I am Using lead still when we go up but expect down the road we will have to use copper one day .
So my question is at ranges at 250m-300m max is anyone using copper to good effect at this sort of range ?
If you are what are you using ?
I ask as I may be changing my rifle and this would be a good time to change calibres if I need to ?
My mate is running a 243 with the sako blades . He is a full time head stalker on a massive amount of land . I think its 85 grain? He used them previously in his 270 but in a fair amount more weight in the same . On the other hand I saw his 270 fail with Winchester copper a number of times with the Winchester copper ( failure to expand issues ) could be a bad batch ?
I dont really do factory ammo but i do like the 100 grain tTSX in the 260 rem ( 6.5)
I have used 120 and 100 tTSX and the 100 are best the 120 version is a tad slow when its gets to 300 plus . Forget all the traditional weights try instead to match the length of the bullets in my experience and send them as fast as you can , chrono factory before use

Thanks all,
I think I’ve heard enough .
I don’t want to change the calibre ,I have a .270 sako 85 that’s great but want to change the rifle.
I love the .270
I was just asking for the future as I’m still using lead and no point buying a new rifle if it’s no good for copper down the line .
Steve glad that rifle has worked out ,
So there will probably be another sako 85 stainless steel with a very tidy wooden oiled stock up for sale soon .
Thanks

We run a couple of .270s as estate rifles using Hasler 124gr arriete
Sika don’t like them!!

Shot Fox 130gr in 270 for years on red and roe
Worked closely with a stalker using CX/GMX and Fox

All work well when put in the right place

Good bullet design matched to terminal velocity of cartridge and expected quarry range shouldnt require claymore frangibility to ensure a clean kill

Yeap. For me (assuming copper) bullet design is first, then velocity, and after that bullet weight.
I think that is more significant than choosing between a 6, 6.5 or 7mm, etc.
