My experience with 3 legged deer is that normally, they can lead a very healthy life, even the females go on to have young for many years. Its mainly back legs that i see missing, probably from being caught in fences id think.
Got one i am monitorng at the moment ..a fallow doe...just evades the..kill zone had a few sight pictures just not a safe backstop front left severely lame,....will do it next week hopefully
Difficult to gauge sometimes: I’ve seen healthy three legged Fallow, wound healed l, feeding and keeping up with the herd. Another one with a compound fracture of the rear knee joint (I suspected a .22 strike) that had to go. Any sign of infection (hard to see mostly) and I cull them.
