Commissions

Hi all,

Apparently site admin have had a few complaints from people because i don't have trade membership. I can't understand why because i haven't actually advertised any of my knives for sale or said that i take commissions. All the knives I've put on here have been ones that I've done for friends and family and i posted them in the hope that I'd get some constructive criticism, but all I've had in the few comments that have been posted have been compliments.

To this end, and for the benefit of whoever sees me as competition enough to complain about my threads, i can't take commissions from the site.

All the best,

Nick

Nick, don't take on fella!, they're probably just jealous of something that looks right.;)

Oh I'm not worried mate, it's almost a compliment in itself that somebody feels my knives are good enough to sell to the general public! Trouble is it takes me ages to do them. The 3 amigos were started way back in February! So as i said to admin, it's just not economical to keep forking out on trade membership when I'm not getting any money from stuff i make for months! I'd have spent more money maintaining trade membership than I'd actually make!

Don' get too smug with your replies, the impression that you give is that you would be happy to take commissions. I tried to keep it simple and not make a fuss on site, I see now I was wasting my time. Your posts have been ambiguous and although not specifically stating you would be willing to sell them, there was nothing to say you would not. Trade members have to be protected, it is them that pay for the running of the site, so any complaints about such threads are fully justified.

It's not in my nature to be smug John, but as you said I've put on all 3 threads that I'm not taking commissions. I'll also make a point of saying it in any future posts. I fully respect the trade membership system and if i was up and running as a knife maker would fully support it by signing on.

Have recently gained access to a shed on the farm i grew up on that has a forge and a few other bits, i may end up being in a position one day where i can start something up. If that happens Trade membership will be applied for.

Nick

I would be happy to make a donation to your trade membership, if only to show my admiration for your work, .. but as John says you should not offend the others who are trading!

Bless you mate, no need for that! No offence intended or implied.

I've looked at the trade membership thing in the paid subs part of my page settings, seems a bloke can pay a £10'er for a month of trade membership. If somebody on here wants to order a knife i suppose that £10'er could go into the price of the blade maybe? What do you reckon folks?

Digger thats very nice work mate. I love the file work and the shape of the blade and your grinds look very nice, they look very strong knives indeed and those pancake sheaths look cracking. I too have now become a trade member, though havent actually sold any of the knives I have advertised on this site via this site, but like you say just add £10 to a knive to cover it.I have though had a few folk ask if I would make them a knife but was unsure so what I did was email them a few of my blades to show them them, well thats when my email works grrrrr. I have posted some more knives in the equipment section if you wish to view them and those knives of yours would be £130-50 without the filework mate...so if you sell them you should ask for more, there is alot of work thats gone into them, well done.

Thanks for that mate! I'm sure it won't be long before folk start having a few off you, people are shy though, i expect they're waiting for some sort of customer review. Might be worth sending a couple to the Pro stalkers on site for trials and reviews?

Thats a bloody good idea mate, never thought of that.

It's like anything mate, if John at Yorkshire Roe stalking also had "Chickenman Pro Knife User" in his signature you'd probably have to close your order book in case you got too many orders! Folk love to have what the 'Users' are using.;)

All the best,
Nick
