.30-30 factory ammo

I have a .30-30 underlever on the way and I am not (currently) interested in reloading. I will go through the usual process of trying different available ammo to see what suits but would be interested in others thoughts on terminal ballistics of both lead and non-lead. My assumption would be the usual problems of slow speed limiting the expansion of copper projectiles so will likely start off looking for lead but any first hand observations are appreciated!

My suggestion would be to speak with @Edinburgh Rifles. There are copper bullets that work well at low impact velocities, are flat nosed so that they can be used in Lever Actions. They have the ability to manufacture ammunition.

My thoughts are that things die when shot with my 3030 lever action.IMG_20260111_090641.webp

So far I've only shot a fox with copper. A Barnes x with the tip removed, it's not a 3030 bullet but I can just achieve normal cartridge length and use the magazine. The 110gn bullet did show sign of expansion but not explosive. I'm hoping to get one in a fallow later this year.

The 140 mono flex does not want to expand in my rifle. I won't buy anymore.

Lead wise the 130gn Speer do is a fantastic bullet from 3030.

Thanks for the replies, interesting about monoflex not wanting to expand. I will have a go with the lead options first and maybe a whirl with the ones via Edinburgh rifles (I think my local shop can get them according to the website)
