I was just pondering why on earth the 1,700 ft lbs limit in England/Wales, when the calibre has probably killed more deer than any other calibre in the US.

I'm inclined to give it a try but will just chat through with Paul first, not least as he's the poor sod stuck with helping me get started with the reloading.

In Sweden its 800j at 100m with a 50gr bullet for roe deer. Many 222r were bought for roe deer hunting.

My Bergara ba13 are used for a similar type of hunting they can by find in .243w, .308w and more cartridges. Shorter than one yard, with moderator a meter long about 3,2-3,3kg.

Funny you say that about brass. I got plenty brass in stock but I'm still using stuff I bought years ago and it's been loaded several times!

Seems like might just as well pick up a T3 in .308 and shorten the barrel.

If you’re trying to keep every gram of weight off a t3 isn’t the best choice as it’s a one size fits none action. A proper scaled short action may be lighter.

You are absolutely spot on Kiwi. I have a BLR in .308. It has a 3-9 x 40 scope sitting in Conetrol rings and when shouldered everything combines to have my aiming eye instantly looking directly through the scope. The tapered 18 inch barrel means the rifles balance point is correct because due to its weight always being centered between my hands. Unlike other convential lever actions which need flat nose bullets the BLR has a flush, removable box magazine - 4 rounds - which gives it the versatility of being able to safely use pointed bullets. My exclusive 'go to' ammunition is always Norma factory rounds.
