i have 308win cases that were not fired in my rifle. they have not been sized etc but fit my le wilson case gauge perfectly and fit and feed in my rifle nicely. if i just neck size and reload am i good to go ? can not see the need to full length resize and they are a perfect fit in the case gauge as they are !

If they fit the gauge they will go.

Load a small number and try. Any issues, FL size the lot.

The least amount of resizing you can get away with is always the best way to go.

If you want accuracy and repeatable results on the next loading., FL resize. IF you don't have the means to FL resize then just shoot.
I'd consider firing someone else's brass that I hadn't FL sized and trimmed a waste of components.

As above posts recommend - if the untouched brass chambers and the bolt closes without any significant effort you are good to go with neck-sizing only - subject to overall case length check and trim if required.
Call me old fashioned but for many years now my custom is to chamber each and every fired case and measure length before deciding whether to neck or full-length resize - closing the bolt will clearly tell you which is required. The exception is the sainted triple deuce, the dimensions of which never seem to change but then I only load it to mid-range powder weight - a 50 grains Vmax trundling along at just short of 3,000 fps is a highly effective 300 yard-plus fox round and that's good enough and more for my old peepers.

I would agree with Foxyboy43,spot on.
Once fired in your rifle the cases will be a perfect fit and you will only need to neck size thereafter. A word of caution try all cases in your rifle before loading any that are tight and prevent the bolt from closing easily will need complete full length resize.
Does anyone out there have a Speer manual 9 or 10 with loading data for .222 Remington using Reloader 7 , Re12 for a 70 grain semi Spitzer ?

Wisdom only exceeded by good looks and natural charm B/R!
As a rider to my post - occasionally a case may chamber easily but a stiff bolt lift may be encountered - another candidate for full-length resize!

Neck sizing is an old thing,

Just fl resize and then you won't have any issues at all chambering at all

Most people fl resize now even target shooters.
Not quite true. Theres a springback to former size. This is observed when sizing cases fired in multiple chambers.

Likely not an issue for hunting accuracy but is there.

When fired it swells to a maximum size to fit your chamber anyway. The whole idea of just neck sizing makes no sense to me at.

For what neck sizing does it isn't worth it. jammed bolts, hard to extract cases, hard chambering. You end up FL sizing anyway so may aswell just do it all the time

For hunting ammo or any purpose needing fast reloads it isnt worth it for most.

For other applications where accuracy over speed, and brass life is important, theres a place for it.

That place is with one chamber, and not using once/twice/more fired brass.
